The world is wobbling, and life is busy. The positive impact of spending time in green and blue spaces is well-documented. As a cold water coach, my work helps people find stillness in nature through the lens of water. I’m an author and speaker with a passion for ice, climbing, community and well-being.

Having worked in the outdoor industry for over 20 years, the outdoors is as much my profession as it is my pastime. I work with charities, individuals, corporate clients and businesses to help people access cold water and the outdoors safely for mental and physical wellbeing.

If you’re looking to deepen your cold water swimming practice or have yet to dip your toe in, to help find more peace in a frantic world, you’ve landed at the right place – welcome!

‘The Beauty of Cold’ is my debut book. Here’s an overview of what it explores.

Cold water swimming is one of nature’s most powerful resets – a plunge into the wild that clears the mind and awakens the body. From reducing stress to improving sleep, the mental and physical health benefits are well-known. But beyond the science, there’s something more profound: a chance to silence the noise of everyday life and rediscover ourselves through the healing power of cold and the calming embrace of blue spaces.

In my book, I delve into this elemental practice. I’ll share my passion for icy water and wild places, guiding you through some of my most treasured experiences, including daily cold-water dips in January, swimming in Scottish caves and rescuing wildlife. Every encounter or ‘glimmer’ offers a chance for reflection and renewal.

Whether you’re seeking resilience, calm, community or simply the joy of being immersed in nature, The Beauty of Cold offers a life-affirming path back to yourself in simple, achievable and lasting steps.
